How to install car subwoofer?

I have an old amp 4 channels. I did connected 2 rear speakers to the amp. And now I have a brand new 12 in. sony subwoofer 1200W. When I connected to the amp, but it had small bass not like BUUUMMM!!! like black music. Can anyone show me how to make it right or I need something else?

if ur amp is rated at less than 1200W, then the sub wont get the 1200W it needs to make the boummmmm (unless its a Self Powered SUB).
also, ur car alternator may not be strong enough to power that.
sorry i gave so little info, but i am very pressed For time.

Well it would be nice to know what kind of deck you have because I have a monsoon system and i replaced the amp and it was a small noise like that, but that is because its not compatible with my deck.
