You need to wire up each sub-woofer as an 8ohm load, in stereo to your amp. Use a Y adapter to wire your sub woofer output on your system, because bass isn’t played in stereo. Most single coil sub-woofers are sold as 8 ohms, meant to be bridged.
Keep the woofers far away from your TV, because the strong magnets mess up the picture.
what does all this mean in simpler terms… ive got the y adaptor, but do i connect my stereo 2 my subwoofer through the speaker ports or what?
You need a separate house amp or receiver with RCA inputs, and your stereo or TV needs to have a separate sub-woofer output. Hook up the subs to the amp, in stereo. Then, plug in your Y adapter in to your TV or stereo and connect the Y adapter to your RCA cables. Hook up the RCA cables to the amp or receiver, and your done!
He’s trying to connect car subs to a house stereo Chevy, not fry his house amp. 8 ohms is all those amps can handle. I have the same set up in my garage.

uhhh.. whoa whoever told u all this got tooo technical… if u have an after market radio u have the rca plugs to hook up the rcas from the amp. now after the amp is hooked up all u do is hook up the rcas to the back of the radio and the amp turn on wire to the blue/white wire on the back of ur radio as well.. now 8ohm load? are u trying to take away bass? i would try to get my ohms to a 2 ohm stable so i can have more bass.. and y adaptors? this is starting to sound as if u have a factory radio if thats the case u can buy a pac adaptor that hooks up to the back of ur factory radio into ur speakers which gives u the rca plugs needed to hook up ur rcas from ur amp… if u can tell me more or less the set up i can help u better
