i have klipsch speakers with a great subwoofer and wondering if it could be hooked up some how to car. Just the subwoofer.
Most house spekers are 8 ohm. Most car speakers are 4 ohm. The load at 8 ohm on an amp usually cuts the power in half with what the amp puts out at 4 ohm. So the amp would need to be twice the power.
You must also know the RMS watts of the speaker to get the most out of the system.

how you rate the cerwin-vega stroker and the stroker pro car subwoofer. I would like to install car stereo system on my jeep grand cherokee, but i dont know whitch subwoofers are better.
well, i have the cerwin vega strokers 124. 12′ on a lil kicker 750.1 zx an they hit so hard in my car that it is hard to drive down the road because your eyeballs wanna roll in the back of you head. becareful with the pro i can only imagine if you get the an powered the right an get a big big box. you will beat harder than you have ever heard i promise…
There is a small crack in one of my subs and when it hits it kind of raddles I need to know how to fix it if there is anyway.
I read that you should get some rubber glue, and "patch" it by putting a thin layer of rubber glue over it, then a piece of paper then another thin coat of rubber glue over the top of the paper. Do this on both sides of the cone. You will have to take the sub out of its enclosure to get to the other side though.
The rubber glue patch will hold well and be flexible enough to keep from tearing again and should restore the audio quality of your sub.
Good Luck!
can i just get a switch and connect the remote wire from the sub to one part of the switch and the other remote half from the cd player to the other part of the switch? would it work?
Yes you can put a switch inline with your REM wire.
I have a 2000 Mustang GT with a factory stereo that has no RCA outputs on it. I purchased a line out converter and hooked it up using the rear speakers. My problem is that it plays all range of sounds from the subwoofer not just the bass, is it something with the converter or do I need to change the settings on the amp? The sub worked well in my otehr car but it had rca outputs from the stereo.
you need to run a x-over or a choke to cut out the highs
Hi all, thanks for reading my question!
I have a subwoofer and amplifier from my older car and would like to install them for my new car (Toyota Highlander). The CD stereo is the original stock, and I have already taken it out of the dashboard and checked what optional outputs it has on the back. It actually did not have a subwoofer output. When I asked car audio staff at Best Buy, he said that we can use a splitter (I am not sure if it is correct) and get the cable hooked up from the speakers on the door.
I know if I take my car to car audio shops, I can get it done fast. But I dnt want to leave my car for a few days because I need to drive it everyday. Have someone done this before ? Is there any website that instruct the installation or sell the splitter I have mentioned before ? Thank you, all!
Actually, probably 99.9% of factory radios have no low-level outputs (I had a Mazda MX-6 once that did).
1) You can use what is called "high-level" inputs that many (especially lower-cost) amps feature. This is usually a plug with four wires for connecting directly to existing speaker outputs, usually to the positive and negative of a left and a right speaker. You can do this either at the speakers or behind the radio.
2) Connect a high-to-low adapter, which connects just like the high-level inputs, but drops the signal to a lower level first and uses an RCA cable to connect to the amp.
I know that most home audio receivers are 8 ohms, well I have a dual voice coil sub and each is rated at 4 ohms, so if I wire it to 8 ohms like this – http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp?Q=1&I=42 – Would I be able to plug my sub directly into the back of my audio receiver in my house?
hey yes u can
I only want one subwoofer but i want it hit like a pair of subwoofers.

When i turn the electric off to my car the the subwoofer hits. Any ideas why this is happening. This just started happening a few weeks ago.
Make sure your turning down the volume before you turn the car off, or better yet, turn the head unit off before you turn the car off. It is a turn off pop, but could be your amp discharging during the car shut off. Not good for the subs…Good luck
