Whats the best subwoofer enclosure for a convertible car ??

Am wondering, what type of subwoofer enclosure is the best for a convertible car ??
I have a Jeep Wrangler Sport 2006, and I’ve got two 10" kenwood dual voice coil subwoofers, and am thinking to place them behind the rear seat. But am wondering which type of subwoofer enclosure is the best ( Ported, Sealed or Bandpass ).
P.s. I didnt buy the amplifire yet

There is ‘no best’ enclosure for a particular vehicle. There is a best enclosure for the type of subs you have. The manufactuer should have recommendations as to what type/size to use for best performance.

Anyone ever seen a subwoofer enclosure for an 88 GMC Single Cab Truck?

I want to put subs in my truck, after i’ve sold my car, but i cant really find a suitable enclosure because theres not alot of room to work with. I’ve found some single ones, but i want to two in the back. The only thing i can really put in it are 8’s ( sad after i had two memphis 12’s before), so if you know where i could find something like that, let me know!

I have 2 10 and 2 8 in that truck in 1992
you make a box from one door to the other keep seat belts
in the top is only going to be 4 inches deep on the floor is going to be 9 inches deep and the seat will go to the back no problem i got 4.5 cf and i use 4 pioneer woofers with a gmx400 pioneer amplifier under the seats

also i am 6.1 and there was enought space for me the driver

What kind of enclosure & subwoofer will give me the best bass response for hip hop & reggae?

I’m looking to get a nice SMOOTH / deep bass for hip hop / reggae / r&b …

You can never go wrong with sealed, but if you are going to go with a band pass set up (WIth a hole cut in it), make sure you go with a box that is pre loaded with speakers. There is some math involved in "Q" factor, how large the opening is, length of tube and even the enclosure size.

Or, just take your huge wad of cash to the electronics store and say "GIVE ME BASS!!!!!"

What materials did you use to build your subwoofer enclosure?

I am interested in what everyone out there uses to make their subwoofer boxes? I am going to make one for my 12" Pioneer sub.

This might blow some minds but if it should be non-porous, that would leave out MDF. I have seen a live demonstration with 3/4" MDF where a vacuum plate was attached to a piece of MDF on a metal surface and you couldn’t move it, proving that the air was being suctioned completely through the MDF.

Weird, huh?

Not trying to dog your answer, Rick, I appreciate your contributions, but this surprised me as well.

As far as building my enclosures, I mostly used 3/4 MDF or 1" High Density Fiberboard, which really produces good-sounding boxes. I usually use good old carpenter’s wood glue and a nail gun. I haven’t done many fiber glass boxes because I can do nearly any type of box with wood. I have done curved walls by soaking wood in water and bending the material, then clamping it until its dry. This is much the sane thing as cabinet makers do for bars and stuff.

Although I’ve always siliconed the inside edges of my boxes, finding out that MDF is porous makes me wonder if it really matters. I mean, you don’t want glaring cracks but you shouldn’t have any if the material was well cut. The installation general manager of the company I used to work for did tests on sealed boxes. They measured responses and then drilled 1/2" holes in the enclosure and kept adding more and more. Apparently, it didn’t make any noticeable difference until there were a lot of holes. What seems to be more important than sealing is rigidity.

Looking to build a ported subwoofer enclosure for 2 kenwood 12′ W3012 subwoofers.?

I have been looking up many things about enclosure building, and would like some professional advice on tuning the box right. I have looked at the manual, and it does show the box specifications for a one subwoofer enclosure, but just mirroring the design seems a little bit iffy. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks. =)

although it’s a box for two subs just treat them as sepret boxes in a way. each subwoofer requires it’s own enclosure. so basicly what your doing is doubling the requirment of the sub’s and putting a dividing wall to seperate the woofers .so your speakers kenwood 12′ W3012 require 2cu ft each, after speaker displacement so just build a box with about 4.2 cu ft and put a dividing wall . as for the tuning just treat each side as it’s own box so one port in each side for each speaker , and use this web sight to take you the rest of the way you can design your box and tuning is done for you , remember to tune close to 32 hrts thats where you speakers will preform best , http://reaudio.com/speaker_box/LPort_Box_Calc.html remember to do one side of the box at a time on this sight and mirror the results ,, good luck

Where can I get a side trunk subwoofer enclosure for a 2002 Nissan Maxima?

I want to put a subwoofer in my 2002 Nissan Maxima but I don’t want put a box in the trunk that blocks the trunk/rear seat entry way. I have seen subwoofer enclosures that install on the side of the trunk flush with the trunk door therefore maximizing the trunk space for the Altima. I would want something that is a sleek as that or something similar that would not block the rear of the trunk.

Go to a car audio shop and get it custom made

Where is the best place to loacte a subwoofer enclosure in the trunk?

Where is the best place to loacte a subwoofer enclosure in the trunk?

1) Up against the back seat, facing the rear of the car
2) up against the back seat facing the front of the car, with the rear seats down
3) All the way to the rear of the car, facing the front, with the rear seats down?

i want the location that will produce the best and loudest bass.
its a sedan

Face the woofer or the port towards the back of the trunk causing the bass to hit the trunk and spread back towards the front. Like putting a sub in your home facing inward a corner of a room. The longer it takes the bass to reach the listener the lower the frequencies.

Can someone help me with designing a subwoofer enclosure?

I am kinda new at building boxes, but it's something i really want to learn. I am planning on building a transmission line subwoofer enclosure for my Blazer and I am imitating a model that i saw online. The dimensions of the box are 36"W x 20"BD x 20"TD x 14"H. This is where i get confused. What the hell does TD and BD stand for. Other than that i think I'm good. Anyone know?

its top depth and bottom depth because when you build a box depending on the shape and size depends on the measurements. you see the top depth sometimes is small than the bottom depth because the put a slant in the front where the subwoofers will be facing up a little bit. for different reasons depending on the sub. but ur box is going like this:
no slant, a regular box. a great beginner box to start with. goodluck.
a few tips:
-use screws dont just glue
-cock the inside of the box to create an airtight seal
-make sure ur whole cut out is right for the sub ur putting in. (some subs vary and will not be the same allowing air leakage)
-once done with box and ready for sub installation put cotton balls inside. this helps the bass hit harder(little secret)
