what kind of power protection do i need for a jl audio 13w7 with a 1000/1 series amp?

I’m setting up a system in my jeep, and I have a 300/4 running my highs, but i wanted to know what kind of power protection do i need for the 1000/1 amp?I’m running just one 13w7 with an alpine head unit.

Use this guide to determine what size power/ground cables you’ll need for your amp(s).
Add the fuse sizes on the amps together (ie: 25 + 50 = 75amps) and find out how long you’ll need it to be.

http://www.the12volt.com/info/recwirsz.asp

What ever size wire you use, put a fuse within 18" of the battery. *If you have a battery in the trunk as well, put a fuse within 18" of that one also.
4g wire goes up to 150amps (you’d use 150amp fuses). 2g 250amps (250amp fuses), etc.

Good Luck!

What box is better for 2 12" JL Audio 800watts total subs? I have a fully enclosed box right now is?

I have a fully enclosed box right now is there going to be a difference if I get a ported or bandpass box?

Depending on which JL subs you have. Sealed enclosure will give you the best sound quality, ported will be louder, bandpass will be even louder yet. Just consider what amp you are using, and how much bass you really want. If you are using a weaker amp, i’d suggest the ported enclosure, it will compensate for your amps lack of driving ability. But if the amp is of good quality go for the sealed enclosure. Unless you’re a bass phreak dont do bandpass, it will sound the worst, loudest, but the worst true sound.

what is better JL audio or Alpine?

ok, so im gettin my boyfriend 2 12" speakers for his bday and i was just wondering what yall think is better JL audio or Alpine? thanks.

in my opinion, if you got the money go with JL Audio. they are good subs but are way too overpriced. they mostly sell for the brand name.

alpine are great subs too but it depends on what exact model you get. the most popular is the Alpine Type-R.

check this website, has alot of equipment and at the lowest prices you can get brand new and with warranty.

What are the best amp settings for a Jl audio 1000 1/v2?

i have a 1000 1/v2 and i set it according to the book with my jl audio 12w7-3 and the input voltage is at the 3 ohm level for input sensitivity but it just doesn’t sound loud enough is it safe to turn my input sens up?? or is it safe to bridge my 2 channels to my sub?? how should i hook this thing up so it is optimal?? i think my box is tuned to 37 hz

bridge the two channels

What kind of amplifier should I get for a 12 inch JL Audio W3?

I had some off-brand amp that died on me, so I’d like to replace it with a JL unit if possible.

Looking for something in the $200-$300 range.

I’m getting 2 kicker 15 inch, and ill be running a rockford fosgate 1000W amp, so you should get that amp or get a JL Audio A4300 4-Channel Audio Speaker Amp

I have a JL Audio speaker that can handle 300w Rms, My amp only puts out 250Rms. Will it still sound good?

It says that 300w rms is optimum for the speaker. But i have heard that it can handle up to 500 rms is this true. Shoul I get a new amp that has more Rms power? Will it make that much a difference say if i went from 250 RMS to 300-500 RMS will it be noticably louder? By the way the speaker is a JL 12" W3 4 ohm.

It will be fine if you gave it a little bit less power. There is a noticable difference between 300w and 500w but that doesn’t mean that 300w will sound bad.
Subs don’t really have a specific rms wattage that you can’t go above or below. The rms power rating is just used to give you an idea of how much power to give the sub. JL actially has a chart that shows the recommended powering values to give each sub. The link is here: http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_subs_pages.php?page_id=35
It is also possible that the person saying that they give their sub 500w rms was using an amp that was overrated. This may lead them to believe that they were giving it 500w rms but they were actually giving it around 200-300w. Just stay within the range JL recommends and it will be fine. Good Luck!!

What Amplifier to get with JL Audio 10 inch W6 speaker?

I am purchasing a 10 inch jl audio w6 and was wondering if anyone could tell me what the best match up would be as far as amps go. At an affordable price of course. thx

JL audio 500/1 would be the best match, you could also go with alpine MRP-M650 , this one will be cheaper, and it gives 400 watts output at 4-ohm, so ur best bet would be alpine.

where can i get some jl audio subwoofers that isnt on line?

i want to buy some jl audio subs but i dont want to get them on line would any one know where i could get some??

That would depend on where you are. Go to JL’s website and search for a dealer. JL is territorial so not just anyone can sell them, they have to be an authorized JL dealer otherwise they are selling B rated or refurbished models that will not be covered under JL’s factory warranty. Here’s JL’s dealer locator page…

How to connect 2 jl audio amps together?

I have 2 jl audio 500/1 mono block amp, and i was just curious some one who is experience audio installer can tell me how to hook the 2 jl audio amps together.

JL Audio is an awesome product I have JL Audio. Connecting amps is easy run the signal in from your radio to the input RCA’s on the first amp, the run another set of RCA’s from the output on the first amp to the input of the second amp.
You did not say if you were doing this for one sub or two. If you are using a single sub like a W7 it will be a dual voice coil you can connect each amp to each coil. just be observant of the polarity. The W7 takes a lot of power. now if it is for a pair no problem just hook it up like any other amp install.
If you are running the JL Audio amps and Subs it should sound pretty awesome. I have a pair of 10W3v2 with 250rms watts to each and they hit harder and cleaner than any 12" sub I have own in the past and that includes some MTX thunder 5000’s I had. Really impressed with JL Audio.

Good Luck!!!
