i just blew my jl subwoofer any help?

about 2 hours ago after the second day of use. i bought an amp and a cap and payed for installation on this 13 inch jl sub enlosed that my friend gave me. it wa smelling funny yesterday and today but still working very good and the bass was powerful and good. then it smelled worse and then as i was pulling up to my house the speaker just went out and smoke started to come out of the port the speaker is blown i assume even though its still got noise coming from it sounding like hot water from a shower with no bass can i fix this ?

There are some subwoofers that come apart and can have the voice coil replaced.The problem was probably your amp. If your amp is too strong it could blow your subs if you turn it up more than your subs can take.

what has better bas the kicker solox 18inch subwoofer or the jl audio 13w7?

Both great choices, both alot of money.
I’d take an L7 instead of the soloX.
The JL, overpriced and goes by that 3 ohm or 1.5 ohm junk that makes it hard to find amps, unless its a JL amp, which you will pay a fortune for.

Is Jl Audio 10W7-3 subwoofer in a sealed enclosure SPL or SQ?

Witch one hits harder, how about in ported box???

"w7 is more an spl sub than sq" -Very untrue.

SQ – Sealed
SPL – Ported

Either way build it to JL’s specs for it to perform like it was made for.

Hmmmm I love compairing apples to oranges!

2 different subs for 2 different apps!

The L7 is generally an SPL sub that with the right tuning can sound great.

The W7 is an SQ sub that is meant to sound great (but it lacking for the price)

Honestly if you want a great sub at a great price try Fi Car Audio, Ascendant Audio, or Stereo Integrity

The sub is a 1.5 ohm dual voice coil subwoofer, and i have a 1000/1v2 slasher JL Audio amp build for the parallel i wire it in parallel or series? if i wire the sub in parallel it becomes 0.75 ohms I’m not sure what the amp is sustainable at what ohms does any one know?

ok first of very nice amp , it is designed to run 1000watts rms , at most ohm load’s , thats from 1.5ohm’s up to 4ohm’s as you can see here on the cruchfield web sight. so run your sub in series thats at 3ohm’s. that your amp can handle and it’s at 1000watts rms no matter "full power either way" again liking that amp, great choice .http://www.crutchfield.com/p_13610001V2/JL-Audio-Slash-v2-Series-1000-1v2.html?tp=115

what is a good price for a 12 inch JL subwoofer and a Kenwwod Amp Combo kit?

Well, you might as well get two 12" subs if you want to do it right. With the two subs, box, and lets say a 300-watt amp, you shouldn’t spend more than $500 (new) or $300 (used). Ebay has plenty of stores that sell stuff like this at great prices. Just beware the shipping costs!

I have a 10 inch W6v2 and im wonderin what would be better for a closed trunk in a 95′ 3 series bmw.

should i build a ported or sealed box?

1. Sealed boxes = Provided tighter bass.
2. Ported = Gives a boomy sounding bass lower notes due to the ports
3. Bandpass = Gives a one-note bass great for back massage or rap type music.

It depends on your type of music. I have a Sealed box with a 10" with 400 RMS watts going to it and I listen to everything but country and it sounds great.

Which subwoofer is better, the JL audio 13TW5 or 12W6v2?

Hi i would like to know, which subwoofer sounds better, the jl audios page says they have the same rms ranges.

Someone that can tell the the difference in the sound quality between both subwoofers?

I realle want a good opinion because the rms range is the same.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE IN TERMS OF SOUND QUALITY AND SPL SQL.

The T series is for tight spaces only. Do not get that sub unless you have to. They are not going to perform as well as the W6 with the movement the W6 has over it.

JL Audio 13W7 Subwoofer in Stainless Steel Tube
