This is my temp setup between my big systems just so I have some bass. Just thought I’d shoot a video quick for anyone planning to buy this sub. The song is “Elevator” by Flo-Rida. Its a little titan. JL makes really good but its too expensive for me. This little sub is nothing to me but everyone else thinks its loud as and want to buy it. Maybe thats a sign I’m going deaf? The amp is 2 Ohm stable but i have it at 4 Ohms. The sub, at most, is seing 400 watts rms.

My friend just recently bought a JL 12W7 subwoofer and when we looked up the ratings we saw that it ran at 1000 rms at 3 ohms. We’ve been looking for an amplifier to that runs at 3 ohms but it doesn’t seem like there is one in existence. Would it be safe to run a Hifonics amplifier that’s rated at 1000 rms @ 1 ohm and if not what would be a safe amp? Thank you.
It is a dual 3 ohm sub. Wiring it correctly, there are only 2 ways to wire it. Either 1.5 or 6 ohm. The only amp that is 1.5 ohm stable is the JL. You could get a 500/1 and it would push well, or the 1000/1 for somewhere near 500 on Ebay. …If you have More money like that to fork out. And be easy w/ the power of the 1000/1. They put out the same rated power regardless of ohm load or voltage.
Otherwise, you want to find a 1 ohm stable amp and wire the w7 to 1.5 ohm. Here are a few amps to check out .. find something w/ the watts you are looking for.
MTX ta7801r
MA Audio
Kicker sx1250.1 (these are Underrated, be careful w/ the power)
Xtant 1001d
Hifonics (quality is questionable, but good bang)
