I am currently in the process of adding a sub to my car, and have been mainly looking for JL equipment. I have found a few JL 13w7’s for around the low 600’s but I doubt JL will honor the warranty off of eBay or random audio online stores. Does JL honor warranties off of car audio sites(none official ones even if they are new subs?) (mobilesoundsworks.com ?)

I really want a system in my car. I am putting an Alpine cd/mp3 player in my car as well. I need something with good bass. Because it’s all about the bass. Any ideas or suggestions are welcome. Thanks.
my best bet is gettin 2 amps,.. one for mids and highs and another for the subs, kicker is best for mids and highs thats what i have in my vehicle, but jl audio is top of the line for subs if you want the most bass, depending on what car you have you might want to check in what size your mids are (most vehicles carry 6 1/2 inch speakers in front and 6×9 in the back) with a kicker 350.4 or 650.4 (id go with 650.4) subs for your car you can go with 2 10 inch jl audio w7’s with the jl audio 1000/1 (yes it witll rattle the competition, but the price on the other hand is pretty high but very well worth it) BTW dont forget a capacitor because a real nice system like the one i stated will definitely need more battery power. add me to your friends list if you have anymore questions id like to help
theres room in the engine bay but is it safe?
Not a problem. Will be using Dynamat inside and out plus welding on sheet metal to the outside then spraying Rhino Liner over it and a 2nd. heat shield over THAT.
yes you can do that in some cars but you have to use some metal shield to protect it from the heat and the water
we did that in a mr2 toyota,pontiac fiero, and a z3 bmw
i have a JL audio 8 inch home theatre subwoofer and it bumps hard but i want to put it into my car cuz it shakes my walls and stuff… but i dont know how to cuz it runs off of 120 volts AC out of the wall and car audio is DC… what could i do to put it in my car?
there are adaptors that you can get at radio shack/ best buy that will be able to do this. make sure to get a good one though. i would recommend getting a car subwoofer though.
Which is better: 12" 12W04 JL Audio subwoofers OR 12" MTX Thunder 4000
JL W0’s are a decent entry level sub, but have very low power handling capabilities. If you want to be able to turn it up some, I’d go with the MTX’s.
I think my head unit has two RCA jacks. It’s one of those XPLOD head units (http://www.xplodsony.com/xplod/headunits/CDX-GT330) with 52W X 4 powering. But my amp has four RCA inputs. Do I need to splice the RCA’s going from the HU to the AMP? Do I need a HU with 4 RCA outs? How’s all this work. Thanks!
Yes you would need either a headunit with 4 rca outputs or 2 y-adapters to split the signal. That also depends on which JL amp it is on whether it has the level setting switch for high level or low level. The you could run a 4ch. rca and cut the leads off at the radio and wire them to the speaker output of the radio and connect the other end directly to the amp, only if your JL amp has that switch for high/low level input.
I have an ‘03 Acura TL Type-S with a JL Audio 13W7, JL 1000/1, and a Jensen VM9312 running off of a standard/basic battery up front. If not the car audio specific battery shouldn’t just a yellow top or red top do it?
A cap is only good so far as the audio system isn’t trying to pull too much from the electrical system. A cap doesn’t provide more power, it’s designed to ’stiffen’ the voltage to the amp, nothing esle. If the current isn’t there, a cap won’t help.
If your total system power is 1000 watts RMS or more, you will need to:
1. Upgrade the alternator to a high output alternator
2. Upgrade to a heavy duty deep cycle battery
3. Upgrade the "Big 3" – that is to replace the power wire between the battery and alternator, the ground from the battery to the chassis and the ground strap from the engine/tranny to the chassis with at least 1/0 AWG wire.
Failure to do this will result in you replacing them anyway as the alternator will eventually fail.
Here is a guide that will calculate what size alternator and power wires you need http://www.datafilehost.com/download.php?file=6d26c621
You’ll need Microsft Excel to use it.

I want to install a sealed pure SQ 10" sub in my car. After chatting to a few people the JL W7 subs seem to be coming up a lot, however what other pure SQ options are there? I'm not really too worried about budget and it has to be available in the UK. I want to weigh up all my options before investing in one!
Thanks.
alpine simply the best
