There is alot more to building a subwoofer or any loudspeaker for that matter than just throwing a bunch of mix match parts together,unless you are a engineer or speaker tech, don't waste you money or time.

no. speaker is really difficult device and you will never be able to build some good. you can make "something" but it will not be "good speaker"..

you can buy just a cone and coil and glue it in.

Well if you can get a basket (where the magnet would attach) to house all of the components then its possible. I have thought about it myself. Check out http://youtube.com/watch?v=izQHjVWfzDQ
They show the basics of building a speaker. Its basically a voice coil (bunch of copper wire wrapped around a paper tube) attached to a cone.

unless you have a machine shop at your disposal, I’d say it’s a cost-prohibitive task…
