What is the best amp to power 1 10 or 12 inch JL Audio W7 subwoofer?

the best match would be a jl amp. but pretty high price for both subs and amps. the jl.1000 will run around $1000. check out mtx. depends on what sub you go with on what amp you need since the 10’s are 750rms and the 10’s are 500rms. 1 thing i dont like about the jl’s is that that run at 3ohm or 1.5ohm which throws off your amp a little snce most amps are 4/2/1ohm.
check out the mtx9500 series also, i would take a 9500 over a w7. hit just as hard and 1/2 the price. so you can get 2 for what your paying for 1w7

You don’t need to waste your money on a JL amp. You are already talking about wasting it on a JL sub.
MTX 9500s STOMP the W7s in every way including price.

Anyways, get one that puts out -about- the same rms rating that the sub can handle, in the appropriate load (measured in ohms). If they are 4Ohm 1000watt rms subs you’ll need an amp that puts out 1000watts rms x 1@4Ohms, etc…

Get one that is CEA-compliant, this ensures that it puts out what it claims. Many amp’s claim power that they aren’t even close to putting out, mostly off-brand or cheapo amps.

    Good Luck!
