How do I connect my car subwoofer at my house?

I have a JL Audio 12" subwoofer, and a 1600 watt Sony amplier, with a Audiobahn capacitor. I recently wrecked my car, and took out my sound system. However, I was wondering, how I could connect my subwoofer to my laptop, or use it as a home subwoofer, and how the amp could be powered.

Get a power supply that matches your amp’s power specs to power your amp. If you just want to use your sub , you’ll have to use raise the impedance since most domestic sound systems work with 8 ohm speakers. get another sub or connect a 4 ohm resistance.

it’s fairly easy to build a linear regulated power supply for your amp. Go find a 10:1 power transformer, and get the whitepaper on the LM317 voltage regulator. $10 later you have a wall to 12 volt power supply, and your amp is good to go.

You’ll need a pretty hefty power supply. It will have to be at least 13.8 volt 60 amp supply which will run you over $300.
