I have an 8 ohm JL Audio car subwoofer that has been in my car. Since selling my car, I would really like to use the subwoofer as it sounds great. I want to use this in my home, but unsure on how to hook it up. I know that home theaters or home audio use an 8 ohm impedence. What do I need to do to hook up the subwoofer to the receiver?
I know it is direct w/speaker wire, but I want to do it via my LFE connection on the back of my receiver (which is 1 wire).
You will need a powered amplifier, single channel, or two channel bridgeable and stable at 8 ohms. It will be another component to your home stereo. You should be able to find one at your favorite electronics store, or somewhere like crutchfield.com. Connect everything, should be an "RCA" coming from your receiver, and standard speaker wires from the amp, and now you have huge sound effects for your movies.
