JL 13W1 V2 Subwoofer Alpine MRP-M650 Amplifier

This is my temp setup between my big systems just so I have some bass. Just thought I’d shoot a video quick for anyone planning to buy this sub. The song is “Elevator” by Flo-Rida. Its a little titan. JL makes really good but its too expensive for me. This little sub is nothing to me but everyone else thinks its loud as and want to buy it. Maybe thats a sign I’m going deaf? The amp is 2 Ohm stable but i have it at 4 Ohms. The sub, at most, is seing 400 watts rms.

    Looking at the …
Looking at the paremters, I’d say it would definately have more output(if in correct box). If your box doesn’t sound right, build another one. They’re cheap. If you have it, might as well use it. The SR isn’t great enough of a step up in performance to justify selling and buying. If space is tight, they will do wonderful.

the box is the problem its to peaky (tuned to like 50hz or somethin) but i was looking at the re audio line of subs, how would the sr’s compare to say my cvr?

You can always sell ur sub and go bigger. I wouldn’t recommend JL unless you have money to burn and think quality means over-paying. Theres a lot of better subs than this one for less money. Maybe you just need a new box for the sub you have?

i have the cvr 10 sub box, i sued to have that same amp to but got a MRP M850 to replace it

Yes and No. If a …
Yes and No. If a 300 watt amp has its gain and crossover set correctly it will run a 1200W sub just fine. But, if the gain and bassboost are cranked completely and not set the amp will clip. Clipping is basically an amps release of power that it can’t control(in a nutshell). Clipping can damage the amp and the sub woofer. JVC makes ok stuff. I would compare it to Sony and Kenwood. Their headunits sound good, they’re cheap, and are relatively bulletproof.

K thanks :] . Umm another question. i herd that underpowering a sub is bad like a 12″ 1200W max sub on a 200-300 watt amp. true or false? ( and do you know if jvc subs any good )

  11. kickersolox says:

    I only pushed it …
I only pushed it with 400W which is more than the sub can handle. It depends on the enclosure. If treated properly than no, its difficult to bottom this sub out with its rated power. Tones below 20 hertz is when I had to worry about bottoming out but thats with all subs.

    A question…. is …
A question…. is there any distortion whatsoever? and is it easy to bottom out that sub? i was/am gonna buy/trade that exact sub with my friend as y. Thanks

    New, these ers …
New, these ers are $350 in the JL box at crutchfield. I picked up the sub, box and Alpine 600watt amp for $125 and still thought the price was a little steep. The amp was $210 on sale at crutchfiled last time I saw. The amp was the only reason I bought this. JL can stick its insane prices up its for all I care. But their subs are nice;) but I’ll never buy a new one.

yea i agree.. i have 2 13w1v2’s and im givin them 150rms each at the momment and its loud as its in a seald box and most of my friends cant take it (its in my room at the momment but i have made videos of it in my parents car)

  16. ToXiCvEliXiR says:

    I was using 2 …
I was using 2 12w3v2 with a amp that was putting out like 100rms to them each and most people thought it was to loud. Then I got an amp that put out 350w RMS to just one and I thought that I was going to go deaf in a matter of seconds if I did not turn it off.

  17. kickersolox says:

Depends on a lot of …
Depends on a lot of factors. Facing Trunk or Cab. Factory box, homemade piece of box, or box made to specs. Its not all about power. Roughly 80 percent of a woofers output is in its enclosure. Your vehicle is part of the enclosure. So before you go and dis someone system i suggest you do your homework. This sub is louder than most dual 12 setups only because no one knows what the they are doing. There is more to a woofer than power, believe me.

i’ve heard this sub on a JL 500/1 amp, not that loud IMO
