What kind of subwoofer box should i use for my 10 inch JL W6?

I have a 10 inch W6v2 and im wonderin what would be better for a closed trunk in a 95′ 3 series bmw.

should i build a ported or sealed box?

1. Sealed boxes = Provided tighter bass.
2. Ported = Gives a boomy sounding bass lower notes due to the ports
3. Bandpass = Gives a one-note bass great for back massage or rap type music.

It depends on your type of music. I have a Sealed box with a 10" with 400 RMS watts going to it and I listen to everything but country and it sounds great.

Good Luck.

Ported if you want it to hit harder and lower; sealed if you want it tighter bass and better SQ. With the W6 especially I would get a custom box made to the specs whether you go sealed or ported.

First look to what the manufacturer recommends then you can decide.

A sub in the wrong enclosure will either sound bad or be destroyed.

You also have to take into consideration that on european cars the back seat really muffles sound. A lot of the time sealed boxes can not penetrate the back seat. This creates muffled bass. The ported will give you looser bass but also does a better job of getting the sound through the back seat. If your back seat has the ability to open up allowing access to the trunk I would go with the sealed and leave the seat back or armrest down.
